Natura Morta

newdawnofprog I can present this album as an artistic creature with a multi-personality. On the one hand, it reincarnates rock in opposition with intricate compositions constructed in detail, and on the other hand the ingenious and very personal style of Dave Newhouse’s intent on chasing the intelligent jazz fusion with many prog hints. The musicians are endowed with excellent technical and compositional skills and demonstrate them perfectly in this work, thus creating a particular music 'mixture'.

about

Note: The physical CDs can be purchased at Wayside Music, complete with Bandcamp digital download code. This Bandcamp page is for the digital download only.

A year and 5 albums after he has brought the Manna/Mirage project to a close, ex-Muffins musician / composer Dave Newhouse has produced a new album under the moniker of…’Dave Newhouse’, this one titled “Natura Morta”, Latin for Still Life. Many of the same musical suspects (guest musicians) from around the world are involved, this one is a bit longer than the aforementioned Manna/Mirage albums clocking in at around 43 minutes. It still has that signature AmeriCanterbury / Muffins compositional ethic as well as fast and furious examples of fusion / jazz rock, RIO, World Music, Americana, and alt-jazz. Even John Greaves (Henry Cow / Kew Rhône / National Health) makes a lovely appearance here. as does Guy Segers (Univers Zero / Eclectic Maybe Band). Only a very limited run of 300 copies of the physical CD is available over at Wayside Music. And as always, once they're gone, they're gone. Thanks for the support!

Mixed and mastered by Mike Potter at Orion Studios.
"Stinker Wink" mixed by Ian Beabout at ShedSounds.
Graphics layout by Eric Kearns at Phinbot Graphics.
Cover photo by Sanford Robert Scheller.
John Greaves' vocals recorded by Florent Skalli.
