8) "Solaria For Kuan Yin" - In Buddhism, Kuan Yin is a trans bodhisattva who decided to stay on Earth to bring relief to the suffering. Her name literally means "One who hears the cries of the world". Similar to the method used for "90 Mile Island", Dave sent over a piano source track and said "have fun with it". So I did! I created the introduction with a classical string quartet in mind and bowed the NS 5 string upright. When the piano comes in, I duplicated the piano part with two guitar tracks. Pretty sure I used the '59 Jazzmaster for most the tracking on this one, looking for a big ghostly and somber ambient sound for the effects. Is some sections, I layered two bowed bass tracks to get the desired thickness. Very wisely, Dave chose this one to be the closer on the album. It's perfect being the last tune.
