Daughter of Paris

“Daughter of Paris” is a composite of old material taken from a past project of mine titled “Cyclorama” (the last album from a series called Hand-Systems Tapes that I put out in the late 80s / early 90s - The Muffins’ “Secret Signals” albums came from this tape series) and new compositions that I wrote and recorded between October and November, 2021. This EP is broken into 2 sections; “Daughter of Paris Part 1” and “Daughter of Paris Part 2”.

“Daughter of Paris Part 1” (17:35)
Dave Newhouse - keys, woodwinds, mallet guitars
Barney Jones - shortwave, synth
James Stoneciper - electric guitar
Robert Wiser - acoustic guitar
Kosmo Love - cello

The Electronic Baboon String Quartet:
Scott Raffel - violin
Michael Zentner - violin
Colleen Allen - viola
Ernie Falcone - cello

Most of these tracks were recorded at the Muffins’ Buba Flirf Gaithersburg MD house in the late 70s and the Muffins’ Rockville MD house in the early 80s, except for the piano / cello track (I got to play Tom Scott’s wonderful baby grand piano!) that was recorded in 2006 (?) at Tom’s Mountain studio in VA.

“Daughter of Paris Part 2” (13:44)
Dave Newhouse - all instruments

These tracks were written and recorded here at my New Market MD Abin Sur Studios between October and November, 2021, except for the opening woodwind trio which was an outtake from the 2015 Manna/Mirage “Blue Dogs” album. The very last double e piano section was written for my father, George, who passed away when I was 13.

Thanks to Ian Beabout at ShedSounds Studio who not only mixed and mastered this album but also oversaw the tape restoration and transfer of the original "Cyclorama" cassette.
